Venial Sin - According to Catholicism, a venial sin
is a "temporary loss of grace" from God. A venial sin consists
of a sin that meets only two or fewer of the following conditions:
subject must be "grave matter"; it must be committed with
full knowledge; it must be committed with deliberate and complete
consent. A sin that meets all of the conditions is a mortal
sin. (wikipedia).
Within the Roman Catholic church, a minor transgression against
God, the church or another human. The consequences of a venial
sin can be compensated for through good works. (Religious
Tolerance)
Romanist theory of minor sin that does not estrange men from
God. It inclines them away from Him, yet without breaking
one's relationship with the Lord.
