Communion
- The sacrament which recalls the last meal of
Jesus. The body and blood of Christ are symbolised
by bread and wine. Communion is also a group of Christians
with a common religious faith who practice the same
rites.
Holy
Communion is another term for the Eucharist or the
Lord's Supper, where the bread (or wafer) and the
wine represent the body and blood of the Lord Jesus
Christ, given in death for the sins of the world.
In a more general sense it is the fellowship and sharing
between believers. (Fitzwimarc)
The
state of being intimate with God and each other within
the context of a holy meal. The rite is called the
Holy Eucharist. (Saint
James)
