Christian
Science Religion
A Christian denomination founded in 1879 in Boston,
MA, by Mary Baker Eddy. It promotes spiritual healing,
that sickness and matter is not real, and that one
should avoid medical help. The life expectancy of
Christian Scientists appears to be significantly shorter
than for the general population.
The
Church of Christ, Scientist, often known as The Christian
Science Church, is a Protestant Christian denomination,
founded by Mary Baker Eddy in 1879. The Bible and
Mrs. Eddy's book Science and Health with Key to the
Scriptures are together the church's key doctrinal
sources. (wikipedia)
Christian Science is small denomination that teaches
that Christian healing as practiced by Jesus of Nazareth
and his followers for several centuries after him,
was in fact not a short-term dispensation to induce
faith but had an underlying principle (specifically
God) and method. While its practice is regarded within
the denomination as incompatible with medical care,
it also respects the philanthropy of the medical faculty
and is uncondemningly non-compulsory. (goldbamboo)
